Small update

Blog Code

Ok, so Napalm Riot has introduced a rank/level system, which seems interesting. I'm still a n00by little level 1 (or 0, I can't remember even immediately after visiting the page) at the moment =p Seeing how this system is used in future will be interesting, and I'm sure there will be plenty to entertain us with.

Since I last made a blog on here, I got the new GTA game, my AS Level exams started, and I made good progress with my PHP bot, Amphino. So yeah, I've been kinda busy. Allow me to say what countless others have been saying; GTA IV is amazing! You have to buy this game! It's great. It actually has a reasonably good storyline this time around!

Exams have been surprisingly good and shit this year! My first exam, Computing Unit 3, which was coursework based, went swimmingly, but if I find an exam easy it usually means I haven't done well =p A week or so ago I had 4 exams in one day, 3 different subjects. It wasn't nice at all. In the morning I had to English exams, 3 hours total for those. They went ok, but in the afternoon I had Computing Unit 2 (pretty much ICT) and Electronics, which kinda took the piss. Oh, and they were both another 3 hours total, so I did 6 hours in one day, with nearly no break. First time that's ever been thrust upon me, and I don't like it one bit.

Last thing. Amphino is my PHP bot for dAmn, the chat network on deviantART.com. It's awesome and complicated, and weird! So, more of the same, but it's progressed a bit. It now displays colours in BASH, so if you're on Windows, use Cygwin to run the damn thing! Oh, and it can handle multiple connections for no real reason at all! :D

If you want to find out more about Amphino and/or any other dAmn bots or anything related to the channel #Botdom, then check out the wiki at Botdom.com. It's fairly easy to navigate :D

Well, I'm off to dive into things again! Bye!

Strange Happenings...

Blog Code

Well, yesterday was strange! I started off by getting a computer virus disguised as an ActiveX update... makes me feel retarded tbh. I had to boot into safe mode to delete the bastard! Google "scit.exe" if you get some weird spyware, or if you just want to find out about it.

After getting rid of the virus, I decided to go into town, but not before having a bite. I managed to have a bacon sandwich and a prawn bagguette before leaving to go into town.

So, when in town, I bought a copy of Counter Strike: Source! £19.99, and it came with Half Life 2: Deathmatch, and Day of Defeat: Source. So I took this little package home, installed it, but then had to leave to go to a friend's house for a party. So, predictable things happened, then I came home and slept in for ages.

When I woke up I realised I hadn't played any of my new games yet, so I put Counter Strike on, great fun! Also; I have quite a few FPS games now... I never used to be into PC gaming either, but can you still call it PC gaming on a laptop? =p

Well, have fun.

Bye

Newness in life.

Blog Code

I'd like to start off by paying respect to Gary Gygax. I didn't know much about him, but it's apparent that he was a great influence on the RPG scene, and some even say he created it, which is a great achievement! Such a person is legendary in my eyes.

Now, on to less depressing stuff!

I was born in the 1990s, 1991 to be specific. Back then, video games were cool, lots of good ideas. The graphics weren't too good, but that didn't matter much because it was about the gameplay and the story.

Towards the end of the 1990s, and the beginning of 2000, consumers and critics started focusing heavily on graphics. As did manufacturers of consoles and games. People even used the graphics card (no pun intended) in debates concerning which console or game was better.

It sure is damn nice to have good graphics! I really appreciate good graphics, because they're nice to look at, and I know that graphics are difficult to get really good in-game. Unfortunately, due to this heavy focus on graphics, it seemed to me that very few good games were released. Well less good games than in previous years.

There have been a few excellent games since the focus on graphics really got massive, but even then it wasn't like they were the best game ever, apart from maybe half life 2.

8 or more years of heavy focus has, however, and thankfully, caused graphics to improve vastly. Unreal Tournament 3 has exquisite graphics. The details are... well, detailed. Everything looks shiney, and smooth, unless it isn't meant too ;)

But it seems as though we have reached some sort of milestone. I say this because we seem to have more good games coming out in the future, and some good games have been released recently. The orange box contained excellent games with graphics on parr with the industry, most current console games have great graphics and there are several good games planned for release, and already released.

This makes me happy, as it seems that new life is being breathed into the game industry once more! This might be what you would call a newness in life! Spore and Grand Theft Auto 4 are both being released this year (last I checked), Gears of War 2 is being developed, Final Fantasy is always being reproduced again (which I have honestly never been a fan of, but many are).

I just hope this continues, I hope that there are more good games planned. I hear that Crysis has the best graphics yet, but lacks in story, so Crysis is a perfect example of what I haven't enjoyed in the past few years.

Well, only time can tell. Here's hoping we have a good few years of gaming ahead of us!

I love the smell of Napalm in the morning...

I dunno, I've never actually watched that film, and it isn't even the morning right now! I never smell napalm in the morning, is it even napalm that the guy says? Is it like or love, or something else? I dunno, I don't really care either.

College is good, I seem to be doing well in Computer Science and Electronics... Could be doing better in History and English Language. Also; attempted learning Python for protocol involved reasons, although I'm putting that on hold until further notice. It seems as though Ruby is faster and more efficient than Python anyways, but who knows?

Helloes

Blog Code

Hey, this is my first time on Napalm riot, looking good so far! Especially considering it's alpha!

Some of you may or may not have seen me on deviantART as photofroggy, I'm one of the lurkers on dAmn, usually scripting away, hacking at the core of my own PHP bot.

I'm going to be keeping an eye on this place and see how things turn out! Hopefully it will be awesome and all that!
